Sanatla Project: Its Purpose and Goals
SANATLA is a youth and civil society project, funded by the European Union, that uses art and culture as a tool for strengthening gender equality. The project brings together local communities in Turkey and Greece; youth, women artists, and civil society organizations in a common network.
Why art?
Art is a way to say what is difficult to say directly. A photograph, a song, or a short film; makes visible the experience that statistics cannot tell. SANATLA uses this power to move the discussion of gender equality out of academic language and into everyday life.
Project goals
- To strengthen the capacity of youth to advocate through art
- To make local culture and art production visible, map it, and archive it
- To open spaces where women can tell their own stories in their own voices
- To establish lasting cooperation between NGOs in Turkey and Greece
- To produce free, accessible digital educational content
For whom?
The project was designed for youth aged 18-30, women artists and cultural producers, local associations and cooperatives, teachers, and youth workers. Participation is free and does not require prior art experience.
