From the Voices of Women: Sound Recordings and Interviews

Voice narration is the form that establishes the most intimacy with the least equipment. This section introduces the interviews and the audio archive produced within the scope of the project.

Why audio?

Speaking in front of a camera is difficult for most people. Audio recording opens up a more comfortable narrative space because the face is not visible; it is also low-cost and easy to archive.

Practical tips for recording

• Choose a quiet room with carpets or curtains; echo is the biggest problem.
• A phone microphone is sufficient; a distance of 20-30 cm from the source is ideal.
• Record 10 seconds of silence before starting the recording (for noise cleaning).
• Share questions in advance; surprise questions break trust.
• Read the consent form aloud at the beginning of the recording and get confirmation.

Archiving

Each recording is stored with information about the date, place, subject, and consent status. Adding a transcript increases both accessibility and searchability.
