Advocacy and Interaction within the Local Culture Network

Advocacy is the effort to make an issue visible and put it on the agenda of decision-makers. The Network was designed to facilitate this.

Where to start?

Good advocacy starts with a concrete problem. "Gender equality" is a topic; "the lack of exhibition space for women artists in the cultural center of our district" is a problem. A campaign can be built around the latter.

How to use the Network?

• Open the topic in Discussions; learn if others have similar experiences.
• Create a Group; bring together the core team that will run the campaign.
• Share regular updates in the Feed; visibility is created through continuity.
• Measure the pulse of the network with Polls, create your data.
• Open registrations for Events; organize online or face-to-face meetings.

Culture of interaction

Being a silent reader on the network is also a contribution, but interaction keeps the network alive. Liking a post, leaving a short comment, or tagging a member to someone relevant to the topic does more than it appears. When offering criticism, focus on the work, not the person; state your disagreement with reasons.
